El Calafate: Perito Moreno Glacier & Patagonia, Your Way
Glaciers, lakes and the Andes, coordinated by a local team
El Calafate is the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park. The walkways at the Perito Moreno Glacier let travellers of all ages enjoy the ice safely and comfortably; you can also sail close to the ice walls or extend your trip to the trekking village of El Chaltén. Patagonian weather changes quickly, so we suggest activities based on the season and your fitness level.
The essentials
- The nearest airport is FTE (El Calafate); most travellers fly in from Buenos Aires or Ushuaia.
- Plan 2–3 nights, or 4+ if you add El Chaltén.
- Weather changes fast and it can be windy: dress in layers.
